dont you hate overrated minis?

i just noticed a mini on the top 7 days list that i felt didnt belong there, i dont know how it gotthere it doesnt look that good, im not saying its ugly but im used to seeing awesome things on there.

so how come awesome minis get voted down and not so awesome minis are sometimes praised as the new black?

Actually this is absolutely nothing worth discussing. You can not say \'awesome minis get voted down\' because what may seem awesome to you may not look so in the eyes of a majority. The same is true for the \'not so awesome minis\'. Assuming your appreciation of things to be identical to that of the majority is a grave mistake. There is no mismatch in scores possible because the majority decides, and the majority is right by defenition. No piece of work can be under- or overrated. The thing you mistake for a mismatch in scores is only the mismatch in you personal opinion and the opinion of the majority.
I hope this is sufficient explanation to end this fruitless and pointless discussion right away.

In addition, there is a possibility to cheat the CMON Voting System... I have heard that it works somehow (involves more then one IP Adress, or simply a redial from your modem...)...

And yes, I know what mini you mean and I agree... it is way too high... about 2 or 3 Points too much...

It\'s not as complicated as that Matt just sign out and vote anonymously and you can place as many votes as you want on a mini so sign out and give a mini 100 10 votes if you can be bothered voila..
seems a lot of paintjobs with the words studio on get these kinda scores.hmmmm...

hohum. It\'s just because he\'s a \"celebrity\".. posted it on his site got lots of votes because of that.

Which is the case for most inflated scores.. friends! friends! I need more friends!! lol

@Demonherald: No.. they get removed after a while as they have the same IP.

i\'m sorry but personal attacks on other members, for the fact that its because someone is a \"name\" is still just that, a personal attack.

i believe this site frowns upon that. as was what happened with the scibor thread. just becauwe the persons name is not mentioned does not mean we are oblivious to who it is.

so please lets move on from this.

Last time I checked, the scoring was based on votes. And getting more votes for your pieces is not frowned upon, so where\'s the issue?


You want my opinion, about half the GW stuff posted here is overrated simply because of the number of GW Fanboys on the site. But, just like your feeling that something is overrated, its just my opinion.

And like Jeff said, Its only toy soldiers folks.

normally id say this is a stupid discussion, but one of those minis seems to be clearly below the technical standard of the rest (though its still solid).

I\'m sorry, it must be the changed prescription for my eyes. I\'m having trouble seeing which one is the issue. And with that, I\'m going to let it drop, as there\'s not a lot to gain by fluffing up one\'s score except personal pride. And if that\'s what\'s needed, I pity the individual. If its fan-boys doing it? Time for some FB-leashes and choke chains! :twisted:

i posted this thread in anger since i saw the model and was shocked at the rating, now the mini isnt bad its just not like a nine....

since i use cmon and actually sell minis online i really need it to be somewhat representative scorewise since people look at them. due to bad photography i guess im banned to the lower regions of 6 and sometimes 7, so to see a mini that i personnally would vote as a tt mini be on top really sucks.

seeing as this mini is now removed from the top 7 days list i feel that it must have been one of those happy voter guys i guess.

scoring discussions should be taken up since the main site is a scoring site, ive seriously been thinking about never submitting another pic since they constantly get voted down. its also woth noting that a model that is simply basecoated never should be equal to a masterpiece, no matter who painted what.

Since you brought the subject up, yes, I do.

When I went looking for pics of painted versions of some Enigma figures last year the majority posted by a Continental painter was rated too high, sometimes waay too high. Clearly some fanboy/peer group block voting going on in a few cases where the score was just ludicrous - like nearly 2 above where it really should be.

FWIW I think four or five of the current top 10 are rated too high :cool:

If you sell your stuff online, then improving your photography should be your highest priority.
