Since I followed the forums for quite a while now as a silent reader, I decided to show some of my own stuff that I'm currently working on.
I like the active and big community here and I hope to learn and improve my painting skills as well as my english (it's not my native language but I watch most TV-series and stuff in english but I rarely speak or write it myself so please bare with me)
I'm painting miniatures since round about 13 years with a lot of breaks in between but recently bought the Warhammer Quest: Shadows over Hammerhal box and really got hyped about painting again.

The first miniature I picked was the dwarven cog smith. I usually don't like dwarfes that much but this one looked quite interesting and so far it's really fun painting it.

I usually try to achieve a clean comic style look (one reason for that might be the fact that I can't paint TMM but I really like the clean look as well).
The miniature has got a lot of metal surfaces and metal details so it is a really good training opportunity for NMMs.
To lead the attention more towards the head of the mini I choose to paint the shoulder plates with the blue that was used for the cloth. I also thought that to much metal might look a bit booring.

Critics, tips and comments are always welcome.

Welcome aboard, that's nicely painted! A little tip when you want to draw attention somewhere (hopefully I can explain this well) think of a triangle and use spot colours on the 3 points, doesn't have to be a perfect triangle, the top point will usually be the head, now use spot colours that stand out a bit from the rest of the paint scheme, the brain will subliminally connect the dots and draw the eye up to the top point of the triangle. An example would be if you did something like a bright red on the dwarfs eye lens and then on the base add two things in the same red colour, the viewers eye will naturally be drawn up to the face

Thanks for the tip.
I tried it with a light blue-green on the lense. I dindn't use green on the mini so far so I thought it would pop. To repeat that colour on the base might do the trick. He will also get a kind of standard/aquila thing on the back. I'm painting it separately at the moment since it would be hard to reach if was already mounted on the model. I hope it won't draw to much attention away from the face ( although there isn't much you could call a face xD just one eye and the nosetip ^^).

Ah yes, at first look I thought it was blue for some reason, if theres some way to get it on the base then great but I wouldn't worry about it too much on this guy but it might be a handy tip for the next one :)

Thanks for the warm welcome and the positive feedback.
I continued painting yesterday and had some time to take new pictures. I figured out that my cam could take pictures with larger resolutions then 1920x1080 so the images are a bit larger this time.

I did not use gold on the "banner-thing" to avoid loosing focus on the minis head and I think it kinda works out.
Painting the back of the "banner-thing" might become a bit tricky since the AK black primer I used on this one is quite fragile. On some edges the white highlits scrubbed of a bit so I had to do some repairs already -.-
At least I can unmount the arms since they are held by magnets. The mini came with four different arm options and I kinda liked all of them so I wanted to keep the option to change them. The other two arms aren't painted yet though.

That is some awesome nmm Cyanide. Beautiful so far, I think you had the right idea to not draw too much attention to the banner.

Keep it up

Stellar job -I stopped by your gallery but my jaw dropped further when I came on your thread and saw this bad boy- at this point his is the best I’ve seen from you and it’s equally amazing. Highlight position ..perfect...color choice ...on target....contrast ...perfecto!!!paint on young squire!!!

Thanks again for the encouraging words :)

Yeah my gallery is quite thin xD
A lot of stuff is really old and didn't post that much. (I have a few more finished models :) ) But for each finished model I've got at least 3 WIP state projects that I didn't finish xD
Until 2 years ago I worked really really slow. Worked with glazes nearly exclusively.
For example I started a Death Corps Rider Commisar in 2011 that still isn't finished. It worked out well in the beginning but I came to a point where I was uncertain how to continue and was kinda afraid to mess it up on(in?) the last steps. When I look at it now I miss a lot of contrast and see a lot of stuff I would do different now.

So I'm pretty happy that this guy here is nearly finished. Started with the backside of the "banner-thing" yesterday and the steel-metal parts are nearly done. Hope I find some time this evening to do the brass.
Thanks again for the great support guys :)

Nice work on the dwarf so far. As others have mentioned, the NMM is looking really solid. I always find it tough to get through that last bit of painting - usually by that time I've had enough of the figure and I want to get on to something else.

Sorry that I have to disappoint you but it's german^^
I had french in school for 4 years but with very little to no success. But I wasn't great at laguages in general :/
My english got a lot better after school when I was starting watching TV shows and youtube videos in english and of course read a lot in english on the internet.
Meanwhile I kinda regret I didn't put more effort into my french skills since there are a lot of very good artists in france and I found some nice painting tutorials on youtube. A bit sad I don't really understand the explanations.

But I'm very glad that people nearly all over the world can communicate in english and usually learn it at school.

As far as the miniature is concerned I nearly finished the back of the "banner-thingy", the backside of the rifle and the arm that is holding it. Hope I can mange to take some new pictures tomorrow.
