Blues are great at shading reds, greys are great at highlighting them also. Go right to black in the deep folds mate.

what color are you mixing into your base for the highlite? I would also tone down the muscle creases on him so they aren't so abrupt. Having said that him being as little as he is, he might need it in that scale.

A combo of Vallejo ivory and elf flesh. Yep filtered the transitions your right it needed it so a much smoother skin now.

Yep 10 ball gone back into the shadows with a red/ blue wash worked a treat and highlites with a red/ ivory/ grey combo looks lovely cheers!! Doing some of the nmm now so will post a pic in a bit!

Wadaya think Guys?

Hey guys been off this mini for a bit with the speed painting comp and all, came back to it on monday and had a real hard time of it. I didn't realise how fine the detail on this Andrea mini realy is! By far the most intricate mini I've painted and by heck it was taxing my abillity to do any thing with it, nearly did a 10 Ball and launched it across the room, Lol:)

However stuck with it to try a more burnished metal NMM so not so much SENMM but more subtle graduations.

Still loads to do but the big blocky bits are about done.

What do you think?

Tips, suggestions and crits please please please as this is by far the most difficult mini I've painted and I'm realy pushing my self here.

Post just one pict mate, to make it larger - need to see it closer. Looks great at this scale but can not really see the blending on the NMM.

Yes, the pose is superb. Cloak looks really nicely blended, the skin looks dramatic but the transitions a bit strong in areas...the thighs for example. Coming along nicely though Mr G

Great balance of colours - with the three point gold (end of both arms and waist) then reds for head (top) and cloak (bottom).
I agree with Will, the shading in some places on skin is a bit strong.

Okay guys thanks for the crit will tone down the shading on the legs, give it a couple of glazes of mid tone to tie it together more.

Here you go guys I've based the figure and toned down the shadows on the legs, pretty much finished just a few little details to do on the base.

Any one suggest any last minute changes or additions before its fini?

Here is a couple of pics not the best lighting I'm afraid.:)

HI Andy,

I like it matey. Nothing I can recommend to change. On the final pics I'd like to see a closer image of the barbarian though as I cannot see enough detail on him.

Great work!

Cheers
Will

Andy Andy Andy. Remember the leaves that we got onto 10 ball for because they were out of scale? You made the same mistake on this guy. He is looking really good but maybe some weathering of the shrub behind him and the grass. Are you going to work the gaming base into the display base? Some close ups would be very helpful for a better critique.

The blending on the skin is supa dupa, the blues you have used really work well. I like the colour choices also.
Milosh is correct about the scale but I like the effect and it don't look out of place. A few different greens in the tree would make a difference. On the blade I see you have gone from near black to blue, imo it needs more grey to balance it in the middle (which is a bark to get right as I'm trying to do on my knight) something for the next mini mate. Overall a great looking mini.

Ok on it with the weathering on the shrub and I will get the teeny weeny scissors out for the leaves . Will try to incorporate some grey on the blade.
The base is too big for the nice wooden ones you sent me Milosh apart from the one it's on and frankly that's the best one I'm saving it for a real special mini I'll be starting soon. So will just leave it on that base for the moment when I get some more I will incorporate it into a proper base.

Great mini, lots of blues in the skin I reckon. Pale, GW rotten flesh, with very light greys and purples. Pale greens also.
