Abaddon Conversion

Hi everyone, first post here, been lurking for a while but finally made an account. Here is an Abaddon converted from an obliterator, a few inquisitor pieces, and the nurgle demon prince sword.

Abaddon.jpg

The armor may be tough to make out, but it\'s highlighted up to shadow grey on the edges. Once the NMM gold is done on the trim it should pop out more.

The sword is painted with Chaos Black, Enchanted Blue, and Ice Blue.

The Blood Angel was painted in Scab Red, Red Gore, and Blood Red, followed by a Red Ink glaze.

Feedback would be great folks!

That\'s a Fecking Huge sword ........I\'m guessing that was also the last thoughts of the blood angel....

Early days yet looking forward to seeing progress to pass further comment....any chance of other angles to get more of an idea of how the whole thing looks..?

cool and that\'s still a fecking huge sword....

The armour may need more working up when the NMM applies.. Like you say the NMM will probably bring it up a bit more but may still need that little extra pop....

overall certainly looking more the right size for Abaddon....good stuff. keep it coming

Looks awesome. I\'ve tried making chaos terminators out of obliterators like 4 times. All of them unsuccessful (gave up half way) but this looks really nice. Good idea using Tyrus\'s arms too. He\'s probably the only mini that has the right size arms for the obliterator bodies.

Thank you all for the words of encouragement. I am going to be working more on him tonight. The other side of the sword does not have as many cracks in it, so I will have to paint some cracks on to add variety. Hopefully I will get some pictures tomorrow.

I cant take credit for the conversion though, It was converted by my friend, and I am painting it for him.

The red is awsome, as is the blue lightning on the sword. Will have to see how the NMM goes and if indeed it \'pops\' the armor. I think the sword needs a little extra highlighting as currently it looks quite flat, though maybe the other details will bring it along.

Got an update here. I think the black armor \"popped\" out just fine after the NMM experiment on the leg. What do you all think? Also I got the blood angel\'s shoulder pads started (The black and the symbol are finished), as well as finishing some more on the big sword.

Thanks for all the comments so far.

Thank you for the comments everyone! I am very happy with all the great feedback everyone on this site gives. :)

NMM Gold:
First off, I have a mix made of equal parts Chaos Black and Scorched Brown. That was used for the basecoat followed by Snakebite Leather, and finally with Dead Flesh (From the Rackham line of paints, this is slightly darker/greener than GW Rotting Flesh)

The NMM silver was done with a basecoat of equal parts Codex Grey and Chaos Black, and that mix was highlighted with Dead Flesh as well.

Before I forget, anyone who knows about space marines... On the blood angel\'s back, where the armor is gashed open, what color would that be? Is it just silver?

for the NMM, I take it the snakebite was the highlight, and the flesh\\green was the shading?

For the gash, I would do silver, or maybe play around with brown or dark colors... I\'ve seen some chipped space marine armor that had what looked like \"iron strips\" which was pretty cool...
\"Kaples Death Guard\"

The shade was black/scorched brown mix, The snakebite was the mid-highlight. The Dead Flesh was the final highlight, its just slightly darker than rotting flesh.

Thanks for the tip on the armor, I will try something similar to that.
