Okeydokey, im not quite sure what i was looking at or reading -BUT- I had a cool idea: 40k Pirates!
The Plunderers of space, they would have an HQ such as \"Pirate King\" and Elites like \"Captain\" and units possibly like \"Crewmen\" and \"1st Mate platoon\" and i dunno for heavy support but it would be a cool idea! any stat ideas or model ideas would be appreciated!(I was thinking maybe some converted Kislev guys)

Thanx

What about using the Lost & Damned rules?

Funnily enough the Eldar started out as pirates in Rogue Trader! However if you read the fluff the Eldar still have some pirates out there. Take a lool at Forgeworld\'s Void Dragon Pheonix, that\'s supposed to be a pirate\'s raider.
Plus what do you think the Dark Eldar are in \'reality\'.

You know, there are rumors next Eldar codex will be an \"entrey codex\" like GI, where you\'ll have the choice btw. Craftworlds Eldars, Exodites, Pirates, Dark Eldars...

The good old times of the Void Dragons warbands...:)

A whole army of pirates might look a bit wanky, but a unit of them would be pretty cool. Not sure what army they could be used with though!

Well, if you\'re doing skirmish only they could be any army, but if you\'re talking large scale then they could be mercenaries for any side that allows it. I mean, LaFeet\'s pirates were paid fighters in the American revolution and did a good job fighting the British.

They\'re the ones who guard the Bloack Library. They don\'t associate with the Dark Eldar, who were twisted into the cruel beings they are by the fall of the Eldar. Harlequins also perform a kind of play about the fall of the eldar, in which the death-jester plays Slaanesh.

but i read...

i read somewhere that the harlaquins included dark eldar who have grown tired of the lifestyle or something like that and joined the harlaquins...maybe i\'ll find that article and post it.......

Well it\'s all a bit strange at the moment, because there isn\'t really a proper codex, and there hasn\'t been any fluffy article recently on them. Because of this, there\'s a lot of clashing stuff that doesn\'t make sense. I just posted my understanding of it.

Pedantic point: the Solitaire plays Slaanesh. The Death Jester plays Death, appropriately enough.

pirates are good.

Yes, that pirate idea is very cool.

Especially in the futuristic war torn world that is 40k.

Shiver me titanium timbers

Well, thats basically what the hrud are. Not to mention that most of the rouge traders are glorified pirates themselves.

well... the Hrud are Space Skaven as faar as i was aware...

Rogue Traders are sometimes a 40k varient on Pirates... but not always :)

plus wasnt it mentioned there are pirate fleets somewhere? around the Maelstrom?

Harlequinns are Eldar (yeah.. i read that sometimes a Dark Eldar will hunt out a troupe & join em) that travel the webway, performing plays on Eldar Myths & history (that does include the Fall)...

A Harlequinn puts aside her own persona (as an aspect warrior) & becomes a diety / god in the plays.
& the best harliquinns become \"Black Guardians\" (no, not Ulthwe) and guard the doors to the Black Libary, the location of which is only known by the Great Harlequinn (the troupe leader, who plays the Laughing God)

erm.. i could find out my Eldar Codex if ya want?

pirates in the 40k universe, pretty nice idea, for the minis i suggested some models from the specialist games range, the ashwaste ganger from necromunda would i associate with this background.

the red corsairs are Pirates but only in the 2th edition ( i never hear about them in the 3rd.) and they looks not even more or less than space marines.
