IMPORTANT: All work on models entered into the Golden Demon – including but not limited to painting, modeling, converting, after-market sculpting, and basing – must be performed entirely by the entrant. Neither models obtained from someone else in any state of completion nor collaborative efforts may be entered. Anyone found violating this rule will be immediately disqualified and forbidden from entering future Golden Demon painting competitions.

About friggin time they stated it clearly for all!

I don\'t think so... The youngblood category is intended to give young painters a chance to get a trophy without having to compete with more experienced painters. But, a young painter can, AFAIK, enter one of the regular categories, and thus be eligible for the sword. IIRC, there was a guy a few years ago who got a trophy in youngbloods as well as one of the other categories (duel, I think) in GD UK.

My GD knowledge sense is tingling... That would be Tommy Juskus, known on CMoN as \'7ommy\'.

@James S - What about Iago Pineda (Kaleth Black Heart) winning the Spanish Sword a few years ago at age 15?

EDIT: Just saw this:
Femmes Militant models should be entered in the Open category.
I think that\'s great, especially since it is more of a seperate company.

Will we be seeing the Spanish Team in any US GD\'s any time soon?

P.S. Canadian GD is stronger than most Americans in my opinion! :D;)

Now the rules are clear, hope they will have them in ALL GD´s this year, so one can finally concentrate on one entries...:p...

I wonder whether Avatars Of War minis will be allowed too... hm, rather not...

hopefully all gd\'s will have the same rules, otherwise the confusion will go on.

you will still see sculpting winning trophies tho.
nothing wrong with that, it\'s just advertised as a painting contest.

Haven\'t the GD\'s always favoured and encouraged conversions? So, IMO, it\'s never been simply a painting competition.

it doesn\'t look good for any company tho, when their own miniatures don\'t stand a chance of winning. no matter how well they are painted.

That\'s not true... just check the latest Open winner.. or the slayer from Italy 2005. Almost all good painters convert or sculpt.. so how many topclass non-coverted miniatures are there to pick from?

I think the interest in GD is very beneficial to GW regardless of wether the winning minis are self-sculpted or not! Keeping the GD competitions at the top of the game is good for the general interest in GW\'s products and the GW universe.

to be honest, it\'s just another way of them getting money from people.

the gd\'s and tournaments were combined at one stage (seperate before that if i remember correctly) the tournaments were then seperated (and turned into a money spinner)

the painting competition is now just another money spinner.
bad lighting, poor photography, these things would be sorted if they cared. most other competitions have conversions and sculpting seperate (easier for the judges as well)

yes, i am very disalusioned with the golden demons and how they are run, or at least the uk one.

Of course! That\'s what a corporation is about! It may not have been the reason GW started the competition from the beginning, but GW is not the same company anymore.

This is one of the main reasons I\'m not very motivated to enter a GD competition. The Spanish or French (or possibly others too) might be a bit different, but I still don\'t like the fact that the competition is tied to a corporation and only their product, imagery etc. is viable.

Then come to the Ravage Mix-Open in Paris ;).
