Games Day 2003 Gold Monster: Dark Eldar Phantomlord... Version II...
Hej Hej! The miniature you can see on the picture was my first ever contribution for the German Golden Demon Contest 2003 in Cologne: The Dark Eldar Wraithlord...:)... it first made it´s way through the finals and then it won Gold in the Monster / Vehicle Kategory... *hooray*...:)... On this point you might wonder about the background of this little, grinning fella... What the hell is Dark Eldar Wraithlord...?... Well, let me explain... As you might know the Eldar are using a kind of Soul Crystals to make sure that their people don´ t really die in a battle... their souls are collected in the Crystals and they are flying around inside of them... quite a nice way of spending eternity, though...;)... Now, I started to ask myself whether it is possible that some freaky Dark Eldar Haemonculi managed to get its hands (or claws, instruments, mandibles, whatever...;)...) on some of these Crystals... Maybe they have been able to torture the contained Eldar Souls until they became nuts / dark eldarish... who knows...;)... Combined with a looted wreck of a Wraithlord these crazed, corrumpted and evil Soul Crystals would turn the whole machine to serve the sinister Dark Eldar´s needs... scary thing to imagine...:D... After these thoughs I rushed to my local GW Store... I bought a Wraithlord, a Dark Eldar Special Weapon (Shredder...) and some nice Bitz (Zombie Scythe, Hagashin Spikes, Green Stuff...)... The most difficult part definetly was the evil - grinning face... it had to look really nasty and deamonic and it has to have something to do with Dark Eldar... In the Dark Eldar Army Book you can see a brilliant scetch of a very, very (very...!...:)...) evil, witty and awsome Dark Eldar, smiling literary from one ear to another... this was it, this was the grint I had been searching for... I sculpted it on the headshield... I am very pleased with the result and I think, that it would be very difficult to redo this again...:)... Purple seemed the perfect color for... well everything and combined with black it came out very nice...:D... I hope you like my interpretation and my idea of a Dark Eldar Wraithlord... please leave a comment if you like...^_^... Cheers, "Matt Cexwish"
