ACW building 28mm - Help please :)

Okay, so this is our first attempt at an American Civil War building and we'd welcome any criticism, but please be gentle ;) It's constructed of balsa over a mountboard carcass & the roof tiles are 270gsm card. We're not sure that this piece is truly worthy of a feature but maximum exposure gives maximum feedback, so tell us what you think :)

Thanks ever so much for all comments, they are greatly appreciated :) One of the problems that we encounter with selling pieces through the net is that we usually only receive praise for our pieces, which is great, but if someone buys something from us based on a photo then it's pretty much a given that they will like it. All feedback is good feedback, but it's better when you can bounce it around a little. The comment on tile size is justified. For the most part we build quickly and sell at an affordable price (gives people more money for minis *lol*), but the primary reason that the tiles are the size they are is because of a growth on my right wrist which affects alot of what I do, and alas I'm not ambidextrous. The colours have been bleached by our rubbish camera and alot of the definition seems to have been lost, although the building is also lighter in colour than the photo depicts? Does that make sense to any of you guys, because I know what I'm trying to say, but I can't figure out how to say it :) The intention was to have a building in good condition, but with slightly weathered wooden timbers that had been bleached by the elements. Cheers again :) Lorraine

Any piece that you put forth effort to produce and paint is worthy of feature on this site....especially one you've built from scratch! I think your building is quite nice and of good construction. Cleanly built(no obvious glue lines or unmatched seams and nicely painted. The only thing I might have done differently is to take the the weathered look of the building one step futher.....looks like you blended the aged look too well; otherwise, it looks great. Faye

Since you're planning on selling these I'll give you some tips. Most clapboard siding is horizontal and overlapping. The thing you has constructed looks more like the square Norwegian log style log cabin with a vertical plank room attachment. There needs to be more of a gap between the planks. if it's a log cabin. The windows don't have frames or shutters. And finally your door knob is at chest height. Having said this almost nobody but someone who really likes modelling terrain or has a background in model railroading is even going to notice. Most gamers sure wont.
