Tau XV8 Crisis Battlesuit (GD Japan 2012 Slayer Sword)
With this piece I wanted to work on something that doesn´t look shiny and bright but rusted and filthy. I like the look of the Tau-minis and because I´ve never seen a degenerated Tau-suit my decision was made. It was the first time I used pigments for weathering (wonderfull stuff) and worked that long on one single mini. Most of the trash is scratchbuild, the crushed street marks (don´t know the right word) for example are made of gypsum. The barbwire wasn´t a lot of fun, but I made it as well. Some details where instead really easy to made (the cigarettes from the Gobbo are just a piece of short plastic) but worked just fine. No greenstuff or milliput was used at all. Originally I made this for the german GD, but my trip to Japan was already booked and I gave up with this idea. Lucky for me that there was a GD in Japan at that time and I really had to hurry to finish the piece (finishing touches of course in my hotel in Tokyo :) Now I would paint some parts of the miniature in a different way, but the GD is over and I wont change a thing. It was my "cough cough" first competition at all and I was happy to win the Slayer Sword although it was of course a small competition with not a great number of entries. So I will work hard for one of the next european GDs. See you there! Thanks to the Crew and people of the first japanese Golden Demon. Domo arigatou gozaimashita! ... and yes, I am the one, who got that "sword" out of paper. But in germany I am able to get the metal version, so things worked just fine :) Edit: Finally I got my real METAL-Slayer Sword directly from England and I am glad with this heavy little bastard :) I accept commissions.
