Reaper Pillar of Darkness

It's not amazing, but please be be constructive with criticism. There are a lot of areas this could have been improved upon, but it will be used for gaming. First mini I've finished in months, and kinda rushed in the end. The banding on the skulls is annoying, but I hav en't really figured out how to effectively wash without pooling, and therefore banding.

Well done. There isn't really a lot wrong with it, mostly just your colour choices - the section between the base and the bottom of the pentagram looks like a childrens' halloween party rather than anything really spooky. I'd also think about the colouring of your skulls - they only really go that colour when they've been bleached (either by human agency or by the sun in the desert). They should be dirtier or perhaps mossy depending on what sort of envirionment you imagine the pillar to be situated, and by whom/when/why the skulls were placed.

You've done a nice job working on all the detail on the pillar - the highlighting on the cloaked head at the top is nice, as is the effect on the pentagram. I have to agree with Nightlife tho - the finished result is just too visually busy. I'd either try to make some of the details on the pillar appear as part of it (painted the same colour) or marry the different details to as few colours as possible.

There's too much going on is this fig. The colors clash too much and the paint appears to be chalky.
