undead cowboy

This one began as the Bob Ridolfi undead rising sculpt, a fairly early Reaper Dark Heaven piece. I had it on hand for quite some time without ever getting around to painting it. Finally, in one of the spaces in between Visions in Color shows on the mini-painter Yahoo group, we began itching for a group project. I suggested a cowboy-themed pseudo-ViC, and this was my entry. I sculpted on the hat first, all in one go. I added in a bullet hole and a shotgun blast, just to make it clear how he died. ;) I began work on the gun hand next: I started with a piece of copper tubing for the barrel, and glued a little wire in place for the handle (leaving some extra sticking out to use as a pin to attach the gun later). I sculpted a handle out of green stuff, as well as a body and revolver chamber. Finally, I added on little tiny sights and a hammer. After that, I glued the gun in place, sculpted a skeletal hand to hold it, and painted it up. I wanted the paint job to be ratty but attractive, and I think that worked best on the shirt. The pants are a bit close in color to the skin. While I wanted the rocks to be subtle, I may have erred a little much on the side of caution. :) More information and bigger pics are available in my Mini-a-Week section, week 13. Comments are always welcome.

Thanks! I've recently had some childhood interests rekindled, namely undead pirates and undead cowboys. :) This guy was particularly fun.

That would look absolutely great in a game of Deadlands! I love the skin tones and the colouration on the shirt.

You, sir, are a commenting machine. Much appreciated -- I suppose I'd get more if I spent more time commenting here, eh? :) Joel
