Underhive Scum
Another Necromunda miniature that I "saved" from a previous paintjob of mine (circa 1996) by stripping the paint. I actually painted this one in a timely manner, 2 days total, with maybe 6 hours of work on the whole thing. This one is a break from my traditional painting style, going for something in a more muted and neutral color scheme. Notice the weathering on the gunbarrels, and also the dirty patch on the left knee. And, since Underhive Scum are supposedly drunks and gamblers in addition to being general hard-asses, I tried to capture it... I used a more brazen skin tone, starting with GW Bestial Brown and blending up with GW Bronzen Flesh (a color I hadn't used in ages), and then highlighting by adding GW Bleached Bone. Around the eyes, I mixed in a little GW Liche Purple to try and give the appearance that he might be hungover from a night out drinking. The razor stubble was somethi that came later, after looking at the model and deciding he didn't have that "rough and tumble" appearance described in the Necromunda rulebook. It's a first for me in a long time, and I think it came out rather well. Let me know what you think about it... maybe some tips for improving the technique, because I plan to continue using it on some of my male other miniatures from now on (for referrence material, had a look at some pictures of Bruce Willis in the Die Hard movies). Comments welcomed, and encouraged, as always. Joe
