i can see what you are trying to do, and i must say well done on your second mini! i think you need to water down your paints, not drastically, but just a drop. with your highlights, you need to make a more subtle change from the red to orange, think ratios basecoat: highlight 1/4 then a bit more orange etc until you get the desired look!
