I tried to leave her interesting looking without drawing too much attention to her on the board. The face, honestly, the image does not do it justice. the rest of the image is fairly accurate, but the face is a bit washed out. What do you think?

Well, I'll try to help you. First of all, she looks alright from the front, but the back view isn't that nice. The grey cape is highlighted quite sloppily and the black parts look like they haven't been highlighted at all. The front isn't too bad, you tried some NMM and even highlighted it up to white in some places, but at your painting level I think it'd be easier for you use real metallics, cause if NMM isn't done exactly right, it just looks bad. The real letdown though and I think that's what's driving most people to give you such low score , is the face. It's really drawing attention to itself because it's so bright compared to the rest of the mini. You said it doesn't look like that in reality but to us looking at the picture it seems like it's just the basecoat of skin paint and nothing more. Maybe if you painted a thin darker wash over it, the details would come out a little better. You also said you didn't want her to stand out but I think you just need one other colour for contrast. All that grey and black is too monotonous. Try painting her inner cloak dark green for example.

Why the lower score? Some comments would help me out.
