Ordo Malleus Inquisitor

I'm particularly fond of this model - it ties in with my grey knight justicar conversion in that it's got a limited palette of gold, red, white, black and silver. The beaten gold tunic took a lot of time - it doesn't show up in the picture, but it's blended straight up from a 1:1:1 mix of Dark flesh, Chaos Black and Shining Gold up to pure Shining Gold in about nine levels. The =I= on the tunic didn't turn out as well as I'd like, and the photo isn't the greatest, so the mini isn't represented accurately. I still like it though.

No, this is not a conversion - I said that it ties into another model which WAS a conversion. I also said that the photo doesn't do it justice.

What conversion...? This is a Ltd. Ed. character, who, unfortunately, hasn't received a decent paint job at all :/ Sorry for the harsh critique, but it's a shame to see such a decent figure in such a state. PLUS POINTS: From your general painting and decent freehand, I can see it's not necessarily SKILL which is lacking, but theory and practice. I suggest stripping the figure entirely and starting again once you've had a bit of practice with thinning your paints and layering. Colour scheme is good, though I feel there is a bit too much gold on the backpack and shoulder pad (Try using a different metallic here)

6 for freehand and conversion, although i will say that you tried to go too far too fast with the layering. it generally turns out well for me when the shaded part is 2 or three shades darker than the actual color being applied, and the highlights are at most 2 shades lighter. that =I= rocks me though.
