Octopoid with Cannon - Galacta 25

Octopoid = Freaky alien octopus type creature that crawls around on land and shoots you with big cannon and chucks grenades. This is one of the first miniatures I painted way back in 1980 or so. I think it was my first attempt at using the ultra advanced technique known as “the wash”. Yeah I know the sculpt is pretty bad and the paint job is terrible but I still love him! This miniature is from a game called Galacta 25 that was published by Heritage USA around 1979. The setting was a Star Wars rip of with the good rebel Star Commandoes fighting the evil Galacta Empire. A simple yet fun miniatures game.

I still have a bunch of these, myself. I keep thinking that, someday, I'll go back and rework them. In my case, though, I had the bodies a bright orange and the tentacles a deep violet and pink. Maybe I'll start a gallery and post some, too.
