Phoenix (Original Character)

This mini is a conversion from a HeroClix Wonder Man mini to an original character for the Mutants and Masterminds 2e roleplaying game. It is based off of the incredible piece of character art (included in the picture for referance) made by an artist by the name of DMAC. Wonderman's belt and left foot were removed (the foot replaced by the same foot from a HeroClix Banshee), a few misc ridges removed, and the mantel and cape built up from scratch with greenstuff. The hair was also augmented with greenstuff as well. The base was Banshee's, but it has been built up with greenstuff to represent the corner of a city street and sidewalk, complete with assorted trash (the newspaper page and the coke can). The flying stand is covered to convert it into a medium sized gout of flame that is launching the mini up. I know it will hurt my score, but I have intentionally decided *NOT* to give this mini any shading or highlighting of any kind (aside from a bit of inking the hair for texture). It is going to be used on the table for a super-hero game, and I wanted to give it a four color kind of cartoon look. I felt the best way to get a cartoony look was to use flat colors with big black outlines, nice and clean. Like I said, I know it'll hurt my score here on CMoN, but I like it with the flat colors and have no intention nor desire to shade it. So please take that into account when you vote, the shading is not an oversight or lack of ability, but a concious decision not to use it.

His eyes are white, actually. But yeah, now that you mention it, something about the lighting in the picture did make them come out looking sort of flesh toned. Looks okay on the mini itself though.

Nice conversion. I sympathize with how difficult it is to repaint a HeroClix mini. I would comment that while I understand your desire to have a "four-color" style, if you'll notice your concept art does have shading and highlighting. I'd also suggest that you perhaps blackline between his fingers and put some kind of dark line between his upper and lower lips. And in the concept art his eyes are white in the classic "mask eyes" style, but on the mini it looks like you painted the eye area fleshtone, which makes him look like he has no eyes.
