Wildmage Fairy

This is my first post ever here as I don't feel I quite live up to most of these posts. This fig is a first for me on many levels. I sculpted the "magic" out of green stuff. This was my first attempt so I was just playing around. The leaf was green stuff as well, a technique borrowed from another fairy artist on this site. The wings were my first attempt at wet blending, and this is my first mini to get some eye shadow. I would appreciate any constructive criticism as I am still learning! This is the second time I'm posting this, I just decided to get a few more camera angles in!

You just have to do much more interesting lighting effects, and I mean shading and highlighting. Instead of doing a flat colour followed by a wash for the skin, build up the colour in layers. Gives you much more control and makes for a more smooth, realistic and interesting finish. Learning to do that well is probably your first step on the way to "living up to these posts," if you know what I mean...
