Hi guys I just wanted to share this with anyone who is interested. It is the diary of a relative of mine who fought in the Zulu war, the diary covers his full tour as a Royal Marine Artillery Gunner onboard HMS Active. If I have done this correct you should if you want be able to follow this link and download it for yourself.
Complete John Carroll Diary.doc
it is a great read hope people enjoy it I believe he wrote it to be read and not just for his own interest.
BTW I traced his life before and after this but lost him as he never picked up his campain medals the footnote on file says he deserted. My family like to think he stayed abroad or went to America.

Hi Exiles, not, I confess, my cup of tea but have passed it on to a couple of friends who just seem to devour military history books. Thank you, B.

I am just happy I found a way to get it \"out there\" for anyone who wants it, it has been used by Mr Knight the zulu war expert for a few quote in his books but even he only had the zulu bits not he whole lot. Thank you all for passing it on
