Hi everyone. I just finished assembly of a little conversion project I came across on Advanced Tau Tactics. It's creating a XV22 Crisis Suit from the Dawn of War game out of a Crisis suit and 3 Stealth Suits. I finished it in one day and think it looks pretty cool. Check it out...

You can see more details shots of the process Here. He still needs cleaning up and a few more details.

It's pretty faithful to the model in DoW, and it looks pretty damned swanky to me. Had to be a bit pricey though using 4 seperate suits.

Will you be able to use the remaining bits from the 4 suits you frankensteined to make another custom suit?

Oh, there certainly is, but this section is for "showoff" and/or questions about it. If you want real and fast comments on your conversions while you're working on them, post in the work in progress section, that's where you're more likely to get some comments. here people basically assume that you're already finished.

Cheers.

Sorry for updating an old post but I finally got around to finishing this model. So now it is Technically finished ( even thought the "conversion" was finished before). I'm pleased with the results.

Looks lovely :p Nice to see a Battle suit conversion in non standard Tau colours. Bet people will look at that when played on the table top!

If you were going for display painting rather than table top though, I'd be very tempted to push the highlights and deepen the shadows a lot more, especially around the head as atm the mini has no real focal point on it.

Keep painting! All the best. :D

Yes it's missing a focal point indeed. Maybe if the head was in another color... like white... it might push the charm of that mini a lot. But anyways, the conversion is great. BUT, in my opinion the additional adjunct (those turbine parts of the XV8's back pack) you just did, is a little too much. It makes the whole suite look a little more fragile instead of massive war machine ready to pwn some nasty marines' asses... OK it still does...^^ But those parts you added last kinda overload the mini.

Yeah, that's what it did! I was looking at the painted version and thinking "I don't quite like the build as much, there's something off with those backpack jets" but I couldn't put my finger on why. But that's it, they dwarf the rest of the model, it ends up looking far less intimidating. Makes the arms and legs look spindly and the head a little too small whereas it looked well balanced before. Had a very combat intensive vibe which was a welcome change.

This is just my opinion of course, not everyone will agree...anyway, I didn't see it when it was first posted so I'm glad you posted the painted version because it is really cool.

2 boxes is a hefty price tag but looks like it was worth it. Plus there seems to be a tonne of bits left over for all kinds of things like drones/sentries/buildings/terrain/objectives/etc.

I for one, am a huge fan of the realistic military colour scheme. While aesthetically it might not be the flashiest, it sure does look good. I'm a fan!
