Another topic got me thinking. There's enough people out there with great painting skills but neither the photography skills or equipment to show off their work. Would you pay a photographer to get good photos of your work?
Photography and mini painting *can* be an art form, that doesn't mean it's always the case Getting excellent true to life photos that show off a mini and match the feel/atmosphere of the subject can definitely be difficult, but I'd rarely consider mini photography artistic.
I probably consider... I'm gonna say 2/7 of my GD winners to be "art" in the sense that I was really trying to mine some kind of emotional paydirt or however you want to call it, as opposed to just making something that looks cool.
Quality craftsmanship doesn't mean it's art. I understand what it means to put your heart and soul into something, and I respect people who do that, but taking pictures of a Space Marine isn't my definition of soulful. Maybe I'm doing it wrong
Meh, it'd be nice to have pics that are bang on. I'm generally not fussed though as long as it's a close approximation. I've come to figure that they always look better in hand anyway regardless.
