Hey,

I want to get a present for my father, hes a big fan of models. I was looking for manufacturers of 54mm+ scale WW2 models.

I checked out Andrea minatures, although great i would like to see more examples.

I looked through the historical section of CMON and most are listed as \'other\' :(

Can anyone suggest some good manufacturers, price etc doesnt bother me as long as the quality is good.

Cheers!

If you\'d like some specific recommendations give us an idea of what you might be looking for - figures only? Vehicles? Roughly what scales would be OK (like, is 1/15 too large)? Metal, resin, injection-moulded plastic?

Their casting quality and QC can leave a lot to be desired too so it\'s good that you\'re looking further. After seeing some really dodgy output from them (and hearing how bad they are at responding to emails) it would be my blanket recommendation never to buy an Andrea kit sight-unseen.

Careful there, some historical kits are just silly money :D

I would be looking for a figure only, a trooper of some description. German or allied, not Russian or japanese.

i dont mind what its made of and 1/15 is cool, im easy goin :)

This is the sort of thing i would go for (although not after your helpful comments on andrea)

pegaso minis are great, i have had quite a lot of historical painters recomend them to me.
great quality and hardly any cleaning up to do on them.
i think talonicus recomended them to me as well at gd in the bar.

Verlinden is another one I can reccomend, have a few older ones in the 1:35 scale and they are great. Also there is ones in 120mm and 200mm to pick from... I think Historex has them as well as the others

Ha! If only they were all like that - I had a \"54mm\" figure (actually 62mm tall LOL) with a 1mm+ mismatch between two of the major body components. Mould lines and surface texture left a lot to be desired too. Same problem with three different figs all bought at the same time.

Dude you want Alpine Miniatures..they are simply some of the best.

Agreed. Alpine\'s quality is superb.

And resin\'s where it\'s at in a lot of respects. Much better in so many ways than white metal - often easier to clean up for assembly, usually no mould lines, easier to drill and glue, plus infinitely better surface quality 99% of the time.

Miniature Alliance is also worth a look, although they\'re harder to find than Alpine I think.

there\'s also S&T miniatures, sculpted by John Rosengrant (he has a cool daytime job - supervisor at Stan Winston workshops.....he\'s inside the Queen Alien in Aliens, worked on Terminator, T2, Jurassic Park....etc).

You can order from:
S&T 1/35 and 1/16 WW2

in the UK these are next day delivery
