Working with metallic paint

So I\'m getting the hang of nmm so going to do some real metallic painting now.Using what I have learned by doing nmm.

So far I have this: using boltgun metal as the base, for the shadows mixing in chaos black and with lots of boltgun/chaos black glazes building up the shadows

lookin\' great. i, personally, favor the technique and im glad to see you pick it up. in a few places the transitions could be better, but other than that its very eye catching.

wow...I think it looks really great so far. The only place where I see a bit of a rough spot is on the inside edge of the blade on the right side. The upper edge of the highlight on that side seems rather abrupt to me. It almost looks like a SE horizon line which would be out of place with the facing plane on the blade.

Other than that I think it looks VERY good.

Looks cool, hard to tell much of anything from the photo though. The black areas on the model combined with the bright green backdrop makes me squint a bit.

Anyway I learned a lot from automaton\'s article, which you can find here if you haven\'t already had a look. He gives good ideas about using color washes to imply warm/cool on metallics.

Sorry about the colour Jericho was using it as it picks out the blades well and leaves the rest of the mini sort of in the background.Read the article a few times already but just placing down the shadows and highlights first before I try any washes.

Yeah Matt have not finished the blending on the inside of the right blade.I sort of work by placing down were I want the shadows and then start blending. So that part only has the first layer of shadow on it.
