Its a bit yellow for my tastes, I tend towards blue or reddish tinges mostly.

You could go a bit brighter for the highlights on the left eyebrow, cheek and ear as well.

I\'m usin rms paints an base coats I do a 1-1 ratio and on highlights/shading I do a 3 or 4 parts water to 1 part paint. as far as layers after base coat I did maybe 6-7 for the shadows not touching the brow lines or cheeks then highlights prob 2-3 but the last layer was a lil more pigmented and I just did the most highlighted spots cheeks, brow lines, chin an nose. I def see what ya mean tho bout em bein fairly sudden lookin, all the damn blendin is out of view from the front. Tho that prob means I can tone it down a bit just to get a lil better look. the two lines on his brow are actually his eyebrows just havn\'t painted them on they get completely flatened out in the pic but the two light lines on his forhead are raised up lil ridges, I\'m just waiting on makin sure the skins all good before addin them on.

I went with this skin tone figurin since he\'s a woodelf and out frockin with deer an squirrels all day he\'d have a warm tan look to him, I think the tone I used is actually more of an asiatic tone... Golden skin and it\'s respective highlight an shadow and a lil chestnut gold and brown liner in spots to deepen the shading.

I think a little more definition around teh eyes, to better pick out their shape would be a nice addition. And the sharp highlighting on the brows is fine as long as the other protruding areas get the same amoutn of highlight (tip of the nose, chin, top of the ear, top edge of the inner ear maybe) and may add a dot of color to the eye.

the best way to understand skin is to find a picture on the net, and open it in a paint or photo shop program...take the eye dropper and venture through the colours and tones on the face

right now you need more shadow before anything, the face is flat except for the highlights

the brow (his left) should slowly darken as it comes towards the nose, and the other brow should be the same tone as that darkness..this will emphasize the lighting on the left side of his face

for highlights in shadowy areas, desaturate your colours..so for example the cheek on the left, if you desaturate it, you can maintain contrast and depth while showing its a shadow

if im wrong on the directional lighting goal...then ignore it, and ignore this part as well....right now the left side of his face is flat and too dark for light coming in that direction(even a soft angle from above to the left) you will find the first things i mentioned about the lighting and highlights will help you with the side of the face as you wont have to brighten as much

the spot under the cheek will also be slightly darker, while the spot close to the nose slightly brighter, this empahsizes the natural curves of the face

its looking good though

To start I redid the eyes tried to get more contrast around em to make em jump out a bit more also did alot of deepening of shadows unfortunatly I kept bumblin up so I got my screw up on the face repaired as best I could and then started playing with the hair to give my self a breather. but hopefully it\'s headin in the right direction tho I\'ll probally go back an clean the face up some I just need to work on something different for a bit.

Looking good man. The eyes are much better and the overall face is much improved. For the hair, you may want to start adding the \"hot spot\" highlights in, where the light reflects off the hair, like so:

Keep pluggin!

nice lol never thought of lookin at revlon adds for my highlighting, thanks.

as for the eye size I\'m letting the model kinda dictate for me since they are very obvious buldges sculpted in the blacklining actually shrunk em down, the mini is from 84 so prob just how they sculpted em back in the day, I got a whole squad of woodelf archers that match up with this sculping they got alot of charecter to em, one day I\'ll repaint that squad lol maybe.

pants should be pretty much done the contrast got a lil washed out by my lighting but all in all it looks pretty identical to the pics. The shirt is mostly done altho most of whats green isn\'t the shirt this hippie elf has alot of bling on but it\'ll be more evident once the pouches, strap, belt and all are done.

as for the eyes if I get adventurous I may see about sharpening them up the other eye is sculpted much narrower, maybe a lil brown liner and I can close this up some specially toward the back corner.

once again thanks for the feedback

Alright so after figuring out that the -/+ in the corner of my camera\'s viewer was to increase the light sensitivity heres my first pic of any mini that almost looks like the mini (I\'d say it\'s bout 90% acurate to real life) so and comments and pointers are welcome, ty
