Hi there everyone, been a lurker for far too long on CMON, decided to register and take part :D so first off big hello to everyone.

Secondly, I\'m embarking on creating a small diorama style display base for a DKOK Quatermaster, thought a good opportunity to create a diary here and get posting.

First photo, something I quickly scribbled (ha!) as a concept, something visual to try and adhere to as a basis for the piece.

What I have in mind to create is a scene of desperation from a wounded soldier, slumped down in an icy muddy ditch met with the cold, ruthless efficiency of the Quatermaster about to answer his call.

The pieces I\'m going to use (Quatermaster, Servitor and Wounded Soldier)

First part of the base, sculpted (if you can call pollyfiller and a wet knife that) the ditch, slight slope up to where the QM will be looking down on the soldier.

Will be drilling base holes, adding grit and debris to the base and sealing after tea tonight hopefully. Priming the figures ready to start painting tomorrow :D

HELLO! welcome to the forum, and brilliant idea, very ig i think, i reckon this scene is exactly the idea the sculptor had in mind when he was making the minis. maybe also have blood dripping onto the snow, for contrast and leave no mistakes as to how much help the soldeir needs and to up the atmosphere. cool idea!

Welcome aboard! It looks to be a great idea. Stick more pics on when you can. By the way, what is the base made of (not the polyfiller - the thing that the polyfiller is on)?

Cheers fellas.

@ Kester

It\'s a 100m resin display plinth, bought if off ebay for I think about 5gbp+postage, really good quality, really nice solid base to start from, I don\'t have the means to cast something like that myself so it\'s a pretty good investment to me. Lookup \"100mm DS plinth\" ebay/uk, guy who sells them has shop \"FenrisGames,\" does a few other sizes too, can\'t recall exactly what\'s in it but I\'m pretty sure it\'s stone filled in the resin.

/Sigh, busy with work haven\'t had as much time as I\'d of liked to spend on this recently, made a start on the QM, done a couple of highlights on the cloth areas, needs a little more work I think, another slight highlight to be added to the breastplate, nmm needs to be smoothed out, few other bits I haven\'t touched yet.

I don\'t usually start painting new parts until I\'ve finished what I started on, but something was pulling at me to get more paint onto it and give myself an overall view or what it\'ll look like when done with this figure! Been a while since I\'ve been this excited to see the end result, just love this mini

Oh and hes damn tiny, this will be the first figure from the IG range I\'ve ever done, and noteably smaller than the SMs I\'m used to doing, was a little daunting at first, each brush stroke felt like it might snap him in two lol.

Must press on much to do :D

Son of a gun! That is a really nice sculpt, and the paintjob is really cool too! I think the blue look a little pastel, not something i think you would find on a IG hehe. You might want to give some gray in to it, to give it a more dark mood to tie it in with the bone color, wich is superb!! Really! The face is so rocking  . Its going to be interesting to see the finished product!
