Why\'ve they broken Chaos?

Just curious to hear how your chaos armies are fairing under the new rules?

For 4th edition I would field a world eaters army and my games were very hit and miss but always fun. Under 5th edition I think the lack of godly animosity Gav Thorpe\'s allowed has made chaos far too unpredictable to defend against and now I dont lose and i\'m bored out of my skull.

What are your experiences?

I sold mine before 4th edition. Too many other armies, to be able to afford codices for them all. :(

Haven\'t really played anything since 3rd, since they killed my Mutable Nids army, no 4th edition Space Wolves save for that 12th company crap, and killed my Last Chancers as anything special as was in Chapter Approved, but some Kage fool replacing all the good people from the dirty dozen, meaning no more 12 man army for 291 point with optional chimera.

Haven\'t really seen many others playing chaos in 4th, and just learned about 5th, so have no idea how bad they screw it up this time, save for \"true line of sight\" meaning \"minis require being on the bases they came with\" further killing some of my classic minis.

:( I had a pretty good little/big chaos army too.

So like in 3rd Chaos is broken again?

Cake or Death?
I\'m not highly impressed with the current \'dex, but that\'s a preference I think.

I care little for \"competitive\" lists, as I write and usually play in narrative campaigns that tend to make things like that meaningless. But I\'m always bummed when new lists reflect less of the fluff than their predecessors.

For example, I liked legion-specific rules. I liked that you had to make decisions on which god influenced your army, or make concessions to follow all four. I also liked cult terminators, and I see no reason why the concept could not have been retained, even if the rules were not.

I probably shouldn\'t complain too much. It\'s not like you can\'t play a World Eaters list that hates Slaanesh, and the fact that you can break this tradition gives (I suppose) the game some needed room to develop. I just wish there was a way to reward players who choose to stay consistent with the universe and who chose not to put together an \"ubar leet\" power list that makes no sense.

No you\'re absolutely correct, but part of the joy of fielding a legion specific army like the World Eaters was simply that each legion had its own specific style of play. My reward for doing that was I got the Axe of Khorne, allowing me to re-roll any missed hits and to make extra attacks on each 6 I rolled, so Khorne berserkers were rightfully feared, now they\'re not too different to standard chaos marines, who are not too different to standard space marines: its all a bit, samey.

I accepted the fact that I was going to lose men to Devastator fire as I closed with the enemy, but that was worth it to see my frothing madmen cutting their way through my opponents prized assault squad.

Now I don\'t get that \"watching my opponents jaw drop\" enjoyment, and my chaos army works just like any other army, I may as well field Eldar!
