white primer problems

I have tried to prime my figures white but what I am finding is that when the primer is dry it has settled in the folds and crevices leaving the highpoints barely touched. If I continue to prime the details are eventually lost as the primer builds up in the low points. I have used Tamiya and floquil white primer. what would you folks suggest for a white primer that has good covering ability?

1-2 second bursts from 6 inches away.

don\'t try to get good coverage all at once.
let it dry (naturaly or with the aid of a hair dryer) then put on another coat.

this may take 2-3 coats but will give you smooth and even finish.

make sure you have vigorously shaken it for a few mins and maybe put it in warm (not hot) water for a few mins before even that. then follow generul\'s advice
