Hi,
I recently bought a fuji s9500 and tried it out on my minis. However, they came out a little out of focus. I was wondering what settings to use to stop this.

cheers

I have not played with the s9500 but I own the S602Zoom and looking at the review of the 9500 it just looks like a more updated version :D

I use my version on macro mode, button on left side of your camera with a flower symbol on it, if it is the same as my version pressing this button once puts you in macro mode and a yellow flower appears on the screen to let you know, if you press it twice it will put it into super macro mode and the yellow flower on the screen will have a magnifying glass over it.

REMEBER in macro mode there is a max distance you will need to be away from the mini. in normal macro mode this is no more than about 30cm and in super macro mode it is about 7cm.

I also use my camera in Arperture priority mode, this is set by the whell on he top right of the camera that has things like A, M, S and P on it amongst others, to set it move it so it is lined up with the A. this allows you to set the arperture and the camera will take care of the shutter speed required.

This also brings into play depth of field i.e. will all of your mini be in focus even when the camera says it is, in arperture priority you set the depth of field by rotating the wheel to the right of the setting wheel and by doing so this alters the f stop number that appears on the screen a low number i.e f2.8 means a small depth of field a large number i.e. f11 means a larger depth of field in this case we want the larger depth of field so that everything will be in focus.

There are also settings other than these such as white light settings and film speeds that are a bit more advanced for you and will need to be set from the menu\'s.

I did an article a while back that you might find of use here is the LINK most of the information refering to things like arperture and depth of field is on the forth page but some of the other stuff might be of use to you anyway and last of all a lot of the stuff in your manual should help as well it is just a matter of finding it :D

If you need any more help just ask :D

ok thanks. I\'ve tried what you said and it came out like this: http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/6456/20070414warhammer10012ud4.jpg

the aperture priority is set at f.8 (the highest for s9500) and super macro is on but the arms are still a little out of focus. any other way to stop this?

Hi there,

I have a fuji S9500 - generally focus manually, use the screen with the focus \"help\" button (under the EVF/LCED button). Focus on the area that you really want (your photo is focused on the guys midriff) & then play with the aperture. I tend not to use the zoom, just get close to the models. The beauty of the digital camera is that you can afford to play around and select the best pictures!

Nope, you can\'t get any more depht of field if you keep image magnification without stoping your lens down more. Which your camera can\'t do. Physical limitations there...
So either you\'re satisfied there, or you more further away, which will decrease image magnification and increase depht of field. Or you try to combine several pictures in a program such as photoshop.
