What to build?

I\'m planning to build a medium sized piece of terrain as a test piece before committing to a whole gaming table. As I\'ve only built 40k terrain before I\'m at a bit of a loss as of what to build.

The table will be a snow/winter table for warhammer/fantasy games perhaps with a bit of a nordic feel to it.

So gimme a hand and suggest some subjects for me to have a go at!

Pictures would be most welcome and don\'t worry about suggesting something too difficult!???

Welcome to the forums,

Try some big rocks with runes on it,
Maby a fire pit with a speared pig or something.

Since you said don\'t worry about difficulty, how bout a Wolly Mamoth frozen in an ice cube;)

Combine the two:
Viking Burial Mound!
Vikings sometimes burried great leaders in their boats. You could build a boat partly covered in dirt with a dead viking in the center, dog at his feet, surrounded with treasures.

Granddad!
@eraserhead: yeah, but I don\'t think I\'ll be doing it tonight :D
That\'s a good one Vince, or how about doing a couple of Vikings racing along the oars of a Longboat, ala Kirk Douglas & Tony Curtis
....I think I need to go to bed I\'m starting to...., to...., ??? .....I\'m that knackered I can\'t even think of the word. What do you call it when you start talking bollocks?

Alot of good ideas here. You should make some glacier type hills saw some in the last WD (Oz version) Big ice lake (Difficult ground) Frozen pine forest. Village tents etc (No move penalty but blocks LOS). Buy lots of black blue and white paint good luck dont forget to post a pic.

I was beginning to think I was the only one who\'d seen that movie.
How about a temple shaped like an enormous bell?:D

I\'m liking the longboat ideas.
When you go for the full table, you could always make it a little different and have part of it a frozen lake/sea. I\'d like to see a norse longboat frozen into the ice then abandoned.

I\'m planning on having it look as though the boat has been uncovered by a storm or grave robbers or something leaving all the loot inside exposed. Would make a good objective for games.

Hmm.
As a random aside: Interesting Times, anyone?
We\'ll bury him on top of the bodies of his enemies, in a longship, set alight, and under a burial mound!
OK, that was some appalling paraphrasing. But the concept still tickled me.
