What sort of minis do you like best?

hi guys
out of curiousity, what sort of miniatures do you like best?
Demons, angels, monsters, dragons, gryphons/hippogryphs, fighters, mages, cavelry, sci fi figures?
if its the humanoid figures which race?

im sat here making a monster (its actually a terror bird about 85mm high) and it led me to think....do you guys mainly paint minis for armies or do you sometimes randomly buy cool minis that you like but have no purpose other then to look cool?

I\'m a big fan of randomly cool minis- it\'s the reason I own Party Kev and the jigsaw man. The armies that I have, I chose because I thought they were funky. I love the Rackham Wolfen, and I also have Cynwall and Daikinee elves, Bretonnian knights and Circle of Orboros armies. A well-made gribbly thing is always nice to paint because they\'re often quite simple in style and you can have a bit of fun with them, and I adore dragons.

I generally paint stuff for my armies, or that looks cool. When I buy a miniature, I try to pick one with a sculpt that matches my painting style. Lots of clean, smooth surfaces.

Pretty much just GW, just because of their sculpting style. I buy some Rackham stuff now and again, and occasionally from a small company.

As far on race or creature, it doesn\'t matter to me much as long as they look cool. It\'s mainly humanoids, but occasionally a demon or gigantic monster will make it\'s way to my gallery (*cough* Tarascus *cough*). I like dragons if they are the bulky, lizard looking kind. The slender chinese kind of dragons just don\'t do it for me.

That about does it for me. *goes back to hiding*

I used to play space marines, but got bored of constantly changing rules and having to buy rulebooks and stuff, so now I just paint what I like

I love dwarves but don\'t paint them as much as I should. I like painting things with a story of some kind weither it be funny or serious. I like things that look as if they are interactive with each other or the scene. But I really love dwarves.

Humanoids, mostly, because I play a lot of D&D and everyone I play with wants to get their character painted up. But when I\'m painting for myself, I like anything with a lot of fiddly bits and a sense of dynamic movement.

I also play 40K and Fantasy, and I choose armies with a bunch of funky, off-the-wall sculpts.

By choice, large scale stuff 54mm + as I get older more historical stuff.

But I am easily swayed

I have a preference for miniatures of females in light clothing, preferably very light clothing.

everything but porn-like nudity... boobs are great but i\'m not so keen on some of the Pegaso type women.

Other than that... anything goes as long as I can afford to have it painted.

actually the clothing that she is wearing looks quite heavy!!

one thing i\'m not a fan of is nudity. i ain\'t a prude, and dont find it distasteful but i just don\'t care for it much on minis

I\'m a fan of metal minis, in general. I buy a lot of them. In terms of painting, I\'m still very much a beginner, and haven\'t really determined what type I like to paint most, yet. I bought my armies mostly painted.

Im a fan of the nude ladies. Im a pinup artist so I just love to see them created in 3d. Someday I would love to have the skills to do it myself.


Also: Space Marines. They fascinate me.

I\'m a serious Dracophile. I must have about 30 mostly all unpainted, one or two ready to go back into the Dettol.
As for other minis well Top of my list has to be the two sculptors I have had the great pleasure to meet, Steve Buddle and Werner Klocke. Love Spyglass figures for their smooth flowing and graceful lines and Freebooter for General Figures and Reaper\'s Dwarves.
After that it\'s anything that takes my fancy. (It might surprise a few people but I\' not a \"great\" fan of bare boobed minis, I have a few, but not many.)

I mostly paint minis that I can use in my scenery, so townsfolk, livestock, and static minis for the most part.

Every now and then though, I like an old man in a pointy hat. To paint. A mini.
