What glue do you use?

Because super glue is just not sticking for me. What do you you guys use, and if super glue, do you do something to prep it to make it stick better?

I\'m just tired of holding stuff for half an hour only to have it fall apart!

Sounds like either your glue is old or you are applying way to much -

I use pretty much whatever super glue is at hand - currently I\'m using either Zap a Gap or Elmers depending on which tube I grab.

For plastic to plastic I use Testors liquid cement in the glass bottle.

5 minuet epoxy works great for me. Make sure the surfaces are clean. Don\'t just wipe them, lightly file or sand them.

I use the same as Steel.
It\'s either too old, too much, the surfaces aren\'t clean or the metal is too cold.
I find pinning helps if the pieces are big enough. but seriously:
1. Clean the surfaces,
2. check the fit (they may not meet flush?)
3. make sure the pieces are room temp (comfortably 60-80 degrees F.)
4. just a dab will do, just a touch to the smaller piece, and press firmly together, count to 10 or 15, then it should be fine.

If it still doesn\'t stay together, get a new bottle of glue.

CHEERS!

Also, if you\'re using tubes of glue, try storing it in an upright position - I use a bottle cap and a lump of poster tac to achieve this -

ewww...I hate the metal tubes.
You only get to use half of it, when the end gets squeezed and the \"foil\" folds it cracks and lets air in.
I use the ones that come in the plastic \"tubes\". But yeah, store \'em so they don\'t let the fumes out, it\'ll dry in the tube.:cussing:

like matty said, pin the bits and use a good suitable glue for the material.

loctite is a good super glue (stay away from gw\'s as it\'s crap)
humbrol liquid poly is good for plastics (the brush makes it a doddle for applying)

the loctite will do resin as well.

I use Hot Stuff (super glue) and a product called QUICK. Spray on the quick to one part and apply the glue to the other. The glue sets almost instantly and the bond is stronger - fantastic stuff.
