What Colour Do You Paint Your Trolls?

I\'m painting up a Troll for my Orc Blood Bowl team and I can\'t decide what colour to paint him. At the moment I\'m leaning towards a Grey/Blue colour, just to break up the green a little. If I went in that direction, what Games Workshop paint colours would I use?

And what colours do people paint their trolls, for Blood Bowl, Warhammer Fantasy or otherwise?

i would use ultramarines blue and skull white by themselves. and use washes of asurmen blue to get the crevasses.

When GW paint their trolls grey/blue, they\'re going for a mountain troll look, with a stoney feel to it.

I\'d use :

*) Shadow Grey;
*) Fenris Grey wash;
*) A light Scorched Brown wash;
*) Clean up with Shadow Grey;
*) Highlight with Space Wolf Grey or with Denib Stone to make it more mineral;
*) Skull White if you need the extra highlight.

I\'ve got three first edition trolls (not finished yet) and I\'ve painted one in Ice Blue and the other in a very light purple/lilac.

I think I\'ve decided on the blue/grey stone troll look. I\'ve had a look at some of the troll pics here on CMoN to try and find something I like. The trouble is even though I have found quite a few I like, I\'m not really sure what paint colours to use to get my mini to look similar colour-wise.(still pretty green to this miniature painting bizzo! :D )

At the moment I am liking the look of these Trolls:

Troll 1 - This one is a really a lot bluer that the rest of the Troll minis I have seen. It also has a bit of a cartoony feel to it. However I think that sort of look would fit in really well with an Orc Blood Bowl team though. I\'m not sure what blues to use or what colours to use for the belly/ears.

Troll(s) 2 - These guys have a grey-blue skin tone that I also like. Once again, not sure on what colours to use.

Troll(s) 3 - I like the Troll on the left and right here. The one in the middle is a bit too grey for me.

This thread shows another Troll that I like the look of as well.

Hopefully that gives people an idea of the sort of final colour I am after. Any advice or suggestions about how to actually get to that would be appreciated!

Thanks,

I think having a blue tint is the way to go. Not too strong, because it\'s a very funny skin pigment if you think about it.

Ultramarines Blue, shaded with a dark brown (Scorched + Black works wonders) and hilighted with bone should give a nice skin color. It\'s still blue, but fits in wonderfully with the \"realist\" aesthetic going around the last few years.

A tiny bit of red or purple glazes in appropriate spots would be nice as well. A bit near the armpits, nose, ears, mouth etc. would be ideal. Keep it subtle and it should add some more depth to the model.

For the soft belly and stuff you could probably use a khaki sort of color, glazed with Ultramarines Blue and hilighted with a bit of Space Wolf Grey. I think that would work nicely.
