What about a good Shag..........goth?

I\'m getting some money together in preparation for my third army. One thing I am going to do is paint up a dragon ogre shaggoth to sell on ebay and hopefully make a pretty penny.

I chose the Dragon Ogre Shaggoth because it is an excellent model which everybody loves (gamer or painter) and looks great when painted. Also I tend to paint a lot better with larger models.

My first attempt at the flesh was a disaster. I\'m getting the Vallejo Game Colour paint set tommorrow for my birthday so I\'d like to try something different which the flesh area as a lot of people just tend to go fo the standard human flesh and blended into green for the bottom half like the GW model.

Any advice or ideas for painting this beastie will be a great help.

I quite fancy doing one of these too, since I have a large beastmen force from the last edition.

Perhaps taking the flesh towards the grey scale would look good, in a similar way to the LotR cave trolls theeavy metal team did, that would really give the feeling that he\'s been under a mountain for a couple of centuries

Hello..

The Shaggoth is very cool.

I like the idea KingM suggested. I tried to do something similar on an Ogre I painted a while back. I wanted an almost Albino look.

Sorry for my photo quality, but the grey flesh really worked well for this mini.

Another suggestion would be to go with an African Skin tone. Dark skin would be a challenge, but it may look pretty cool if done properly.

Good luck.

I\'ve seen one that used a black basecoat, then built up to red tones. That was quite impressive.

Another idea, that I\'ve been experimenting with on my carnasaur, was building up in thin layers a greenish skin (camo green/graveyard earth mixed with a bit of imperial purple) with purple/ terracotta used more in the creases of the skin. Gives it a lot of depth.

Regards

OK, I\'ve been brainstorming and think the grey flesh may be a good idea, however it may not look right with any colour on the bottom half. Perhaps If I did a blue flesh and a flattish red for the bottom half?
