I\'m sure this has been asked many times before but i cant find it after searching lots of pages and the articles. So here goes can you tell me the best way to do aged and weathered sheets of paper(I\'m sure it will be the same for scrolls). I am painting them from a black basecoat. I don\'t seem to have much luck with mine they look very false. Also what is the best colour to use for the script? all advice welcome. Cheers

From black.
Shove a base of graveyard earth over it, then layer up with snakebite to bleached bone

For faded text, use shadow grey

Thanks DaN. I\'ll give it a try. I have got roughly 100 pages to do so I was thinking maybe a wash??? I\'m not sure. Again any more advice is very welcome. Did i say black basecoat I meant black undercoat.:drunk: and yes I want faded text.

A quick and dirty way, which I use for skellies as well, is to paint the pages bleached bones and then go for seppia ink from Pelikan (the one for techincal drawings ink pens...the ones with the very fine tips). Due to the nature of the ink colour (brownish) it will go straight where needed...drybrushing and highlighting to taste...for the writings, what DaN said.

grave yard earth and bleaced bone are as said what you want to use - I always give mine some darkbrown washes.

Thanks guys for comments, keep them coming. DaN i\'ve got one of them LOTR Balins tomb display bases that I\'ve had for ages that I\'m wanting to paint then sell to make a few quid for 40K figures.
