Weapon of choice for a Farseer?

Is there a preferred weapon that people use for their Farseer? I can\'t decide between a Witch Blade or a Singing Spear.

p.s before someone shouts at me and tells me to look them up in the back of the Codex, I would like to get other peoples opinions on what they use :)

Their mind. ;) lol

Ok bare with me as it\'s a very long time since I played Eldar. Personally I think I\'d rather go for the Witch Blade.

Depends on how you use them.

If its a farseer and warlocks on jetboke give him a singing spear.

When i played eldar i used 2 farseers one at the back to guide and doom shooting things.

The other sat in a waveserpent and he never got out simply backing up a squad of 9 banshees for a wrecking machine.

Last time played with them they went left to right in enemy zone in and out of the transport killing everything they attacked.

My wife likes the singing spear \'cause it looks cool. :) But seriously, for only a couple of points more than the witchblade you upgrade that monster/vehicle killer to a ranged weapon.

Footslogging: probably a Singing Spear. If he\'s on foot, you\'ve probably stuck him with Guardians or Dire Avengers. The Singing Spear just adds to the squad\'s shootiness. At 3 points, it\'s a steal!

On jetbike: far and away a Witchblade. Unless you\'re trying something tricky in a low-points game, I\'m going to assume that you\'re sticking the mounted Farseer with a mounted Seer Council.

Say you\'re hunting tanks with these dudes (my preferred use for the Council.) Given Singing Spears, each model in the unit takes a shot at the tank in the shooting phase against the best AV they can hit. The Farseer has a 1 in 6 chance of missing this shot and the Warlocks have a 2 in 6 chance. Then, the unit charges in for two attacks per model.

On the other hand, a unit armed with Witchblades rolls some dice for fun in the shooting phase (shuriken catapults on the bikes) and charges in for 3 attack per model (+1 for charging, +1 for their shuriken pistol) that auto-hit against the vehicle\'s rear armor. This seems to be easily the better setup.

Even if you\'ve given your Warlocks Destructor and you\'re hunting infantry, you\'ll probably still want to keep the Witchblades. The shuriken catapults on the bikes offer twice as many attacks as the Singing Spear and are actually likely to hurt infantry, and then you\'ve still maxed attacks on the charge.

My math is right, yeah?

You do seem to be forgetting that vehicles that moved at combat speed are hit on a 4+, and that vehicles at cruising speed are hit only on a 6, though I don\'t know the exact math to determine how much of a difference this makes.

What, you want us to hit a moving target? Who do you think we are, the Tau? :p

Regarding the math involved, this is about the point where I say \'Who cares!?\' and take the cooler-looking model. Roughly speaking, though, I think thrown Spears have a better chance of hitting the vehicle, but Witchblades are more likely to cause a penetrating hit (assuming you aren\'t able to get behind a tank to hit its rear armor with the Spears. Maybe I\'m the only person who has trouble with this.)

It\'s really nice to see someone who picks the cool model, not just the cool rules.

Drink for you!
