vintage minis

The rarest and probably most expensive mini I have seen is the all metal thunderhawk dropship, there were only 400 made, very rare. I saw one on ebay recently and the bid was up to over £500 (about $750) I lost interest then.

Silverandblackattack - Yeah, I got corrected yesterday about that one - the thing is the females in the small auction are some of the same ones from the big one that you are referencing just with loin cloths added - perhaps if we all harrass Iron Winds they\'ll re-release the original auction set.

Course heck could also freeze over and Phil the Prince of Insufficient Light could have to turn up the heat as well.

lol

Do you mean the 3 variants that were released before the original terminator box set? I recently got my hands on one of these early figures. The rather hunched looking one with small arms. Very nice model. Ain\'t for sale though!

Slave Auction

Yeah, I have one of the Slave auction boxes, opened but untouched. It kills me to have some of these minis that I love and just can\'t find the time to paint.

It\'s one of those \"not enough time but not wanting to get rid of it\" sets.

I still remember laughing when I bought it because it had all of the black bars over their naughty bits on the back of the box!

Heh...I also have the Ral Partha Slave Auction...got it for $50 off Ebay...have about 1/2 of them painted...will post pictures when finished...

I notice that the Games Day figures always fetch a good price...and most are less than 5 years old...

If I had a Holy Grail...It would be the Limited Edition Swan Ship from Thunderbolt Mountain Minatures

People keep telling me to stop wasting time painting toys and dedicate more to my real job so it\'s debatable as to whether the time I spend on painting is a good thing.

The painting pleasure that you give others is far to good to listen to Phillistines.lol

Most I\'ve paid...

is about $30 for the Ephrael Stern from the Ephrael Stern/Silas Hand diorama. Just for her.

Think I need another one...just can\'t convince myself to spend around $80 for the set when it shows up on eBay...

I remember Thunderbolt mountain...Istill have a partially painted Barbarian and princess set that my ex-wife started and will never be finished now.

Vintage Minis

I guess I\'d better haul out my old mini box.

I have about 5 kilos of old minins from the early 80s. Mostly Ral Partha. I bought them all when I was big on D&D. I will post them here first for interested community members.

For all of you who collect old GW models (that\'s stuff mostly from the 80\'s - the classic stuff), I just thought I\'d mention a couple of rogues who you might wish to avoid dealing with.

There\'s a guy on Ebay selling under the name of \'mac-ace\', he\'s based in Kansas City (US) I believe, who is reputed to be a rather productive re-caster. He always has a lot of \'old\' GW models for sale. Besides those buyers who know their stuff, the big giveaways are the fact that everything comes pre-undercoated (ideal for hiding the colour of the metal used), and of course there\'s the frequency at which the guy has certain models or sets of models available. How many identical 40k squads can one guy supposedly dig up?!

Then there\'s a fella in the UK (Sheffield area) by the name of Mark Hydes (I\'ve seen his surname spelt differently and a very poor German style surname that involved a \'z\' somewhere in it!). This guy has too many user ID\'s to list and various e-mails. Some folks have had good dealings with him, others have had problems, and others have been ripped of by him from the stories I\'ve heard. A bit of a dodgy character all round really.

Thats useful to know. Thanks Sturmhalo.:)

If anyone has any old dragons they want to give to a new home (for a small adoption fee) then let me know!:innocent:

Caveat: I do have quite a few, and try not to \"double up\" on any.

Cheers

Attic attack

Well, just come down from the attic and amongst the collection of Quality Street tins that house separate figures, I found the following...all boxed in original packaging.

Grenadier

Orc Generals War Chariot
Orc, Giant Wolf Riders
Orc Battleset
Hobgoblins

Citadel

Green Dragon
Great Spined Dragon
Dragon Masters
Orc Man Mangler
Dwarf Goblobber
The Nightmare Legion
Ruglugs Armoured Orcs
Harboths Orc Archer
Goblin Wolf Chariot
Gorkamorka Rokkit Buggy

Me thinks I should get an Ebay account

PS

Oh and I have the Goblin War Giant too. Heaviest thing I\'ve ever painted and a bitch to hold :D

Although he wasn\'t painted that badly, I\'ve been tempted to dip him and have another go. Waddy y\'all think? If I could work out how to post a pic on here, I\'d show you how he looks now...:flip:
