The magmatrax tutorial is here. There's a part there about painting red. Was it the one you meant?

No but ty! He did a second short tutorial after the slayer sword winning model lord graviax. In it he painted a plain chaos warrior shield red showcasing how he had done the red on lord graviax, its not the technique im after but the color pallet he used, he managed to keep his reds from going pink without having them be orange either and I really liked the effect.
