Veteran hobbyist, new to the site

Hey guys, new to the site and just figured i'd introduce myself a bit, as i can already tell i'll be spending alot of time here lol. Anyways, I've been painting and collecting GW minis for nearly 20 years on and off, even though i never learned how to play any warhammer game lol. I recently got back into the hobby, after not picking up a brush for the past few years, and went out to a local GW to buy some paints for the tons of unpainted mini's i've accumulated in my storage. I was kinda shocked to find they didn't make the ink range i used, so an internet search turned up some good leads from this website. Since then, i've been browsing the galleries and shopping section alot, and getting all kinds of inspiration and motivation.

I've really only ever painted minis for personal display, but did enter in a local hobby-store painting competition when i was younger and won first place in the vehicle category, and third in the single-figure category. Other than that, i've displayed a couple dioramas at some of the Westcoast Miniature shows held in Vancouver, though to be honest the majority of the minis there centered around scale-dollhouses and the like.

I've never really found a forum or competition of any sort where i could display my minis. Since i don't even play any of the GW games, i never had a reason to bring any of my models into the GW stores for other enthusiasts to see. Now that i've found this website, i'm sure i'll be trying to snap some quality shots of my finished minis to post up, and hopefully get some good critical feedback. I'm also pretty excited about finding a place to buy some of the other amazing non-gw minis that i've seen.

I'd really like to find out about Painting competitions and conventions, as the only ones i've really known about were the Golden Demon competition, and i've never been able to make the long trip from Vancouver to attend any of them. Hopefully the site will give me a chance to share my projects and minis with other ppl who can appreciate them. Now i just have to track down a decent camera, and i can take a few shots of my current Eldar Avatar that i'm working on lol. :brushwave:

You're in the right place for that. Welcome to the madhouse... meds are handed out on a daily basis for the afflicted.

Hey Haze! Good to see another person from Vancouver on these boards. I'm not sure about the local painting scene as I haven't heard of any well known local paint comps. Looking forward to seeing your work though.
