vernis

I've been trying to vernis the mini's i paint recently but last time the vernis turned the mini all shinny. I'm geussing it can be a couple reasons:
- need the shake the jar better around.
- need to apply it thinner.
or maybe something i haven't thought of ?

Testors DulCoat - comes in a small glass jar. You can actually see the flattening agents settled out. A bb or small screw/nut helps with the shaking/mixing.

Spray can? Same thing.. shake until you hear the rattle, then shake for another slow 100 count.

Too much varnish can make it go from matt to semi-gloss.

(Thanks Ritual, I was thinking he was talking about verdigris)

You will never get a matte finish with citadel's varnish. There are other brands of varnish that will give you much better results. Testor's Dullcoat is one of the most flat varnishes, but there are others as well.

agreed, for spray on, you'll be hard pushed to beat it.
