Hi, I've just noticed this range. I mean Extra Opaque not Vallejo :). Is it for normal Vallejo something like Fundation Paints for normal GW? What it's better than other paints? Anyone used it before? Any problems/tricks?

I've found the Vallejo Model color to have an extra level of pigment, but not so much in the game color range. I would imagine this is Vallejo continuing to, uhm..... "emulate" the GW color range as DR suggested.

But Vallejo is highly pigmented already. Is there any use of this paints? I'm just wondering, because I'm buying some paints soon and I think if it's worth trying.
Don't confuse the paint with it's intended use.
Foundation paints are intended to either act as a basecoat over black GW primer or as a primer on raw metal themselves.
Vallejo Game colour are a little more 'Pigment Dense' than the Model colour range, but I've found them to be slightly more fluid than GW's pots.

If these Valejo Extra Opaques are a direct mirror for the Foundations then cost wise they are probably better value than the Foundation as you'll get more per bottle and probably waste less.

This is slightly off topic, but I have ordered a good range of vallejo paints and will let you know what I think of the ranges when they arrive.

One question though, I read somewhere that to mix the paints better, you should put a small piece of sprue inside the bottles to aid shaking them up.

How do you do this? do the screw caps unscrew from the bottle? One of my friends seems to think not - so how do you do it?

Putting something small inside will help mix the paint up when you shake it. The bottles of VMC that I have are pretty easy to open.

Remove the white cap. Grab the tip of the dropper and gently move it back and forth while pulling up on it. Should pop it right off.

Picking up from Hinton's post.....

When you take the dropper top off, It's a good idea to take a small
piece of napkin/paper towel and place over the tip. It will prevent
any small paint squirts from getting on you, your work area or your
current project ! It also allows you to put the tip down without
getting any paint on your worktop.

I have found that stainless steel fishing shot from a sporting goods
store works very well. Use the largest size that will fit through the spout.
Dick's Sporting Goods in the US is a good spot.

I also add a little DISTILLED water the first time I open the Vallejo.
Then I shake it like a bad circus monkey.......

Make sure that whatever metal you put in the bottle DOES NOT RUST.
Stainless steel shot is easy to find since it is bio friendly to the fish....

Have only tried one so far, Heavy Ochre. I'm liking it a base for yellows, the bane of my painting existence. I would prefer it to Tau Sept Ochre and Iyanden Darksun so far.
