So Vallejo's regular metallics thin with alcohol, anyone have experience thinning their game air metallics? Is it best to use alcohol or water for them (and does the surface primer metallic behave differently)?

You mean you thin Vallejo Model Colour, Model Air, Game Colour and Game Air metallics with alcohol?

Never heard of it. I only ever use water. And very little of it. Never had an issue.

Yeah, at least for the game color range, the metallics can be thinned with water or alcohol and don't turn to goop when alcohol is used like the regular paints. I've found it was easier to clean out an airbrush when thinned with alcohol vs water (still not easy), just wondering about the Game Air as I'm going to have the Plate Mail primer soon and wanted to get a jump on info.

I haven't found any need to thin Vallejo air metallic honestly. They seem to cover thin in one coat straight form the bottle most of the time.

No, I have never had issues with Air metallics at all. The problematic ones are P3 and Citadel paints. Those gum up my airbrush something fierce. Air paints are a dream to airbrush with.
