v1.5 Updated Cards in Demand!

For those that have crappy printers, who don't use the war app, or would just like production released cards. Who here seconds the motion of a v1.5 card update pack release?

I've suggested that as well so i wish they'd offer a deal like that. It also makes it more interesting for un-initiated onlookers if the game materials feel of good quality.

The problem of a "updated cards pack" is when release it ?
Because now we have few cards updated, but later there will be more : some freefolk unit's need them, and probably later Baratheon, Targaryen, new neutral units... even old units will require balancing due to interactions with the future units / rules adjustment.
Furthermore, these cards should be in VO, but also translated in other languages...

So if such a pack will be release, I think we will not have it for a few years, perhaps with a V.2.0...

That's the nice thing about print on demand services. Wargame vault is one of them and Malifaux has been using this for a while now. It's has been very useful to us. They could open the service for a month, then close it again, if they want to control what's being printed out.

1.5 is clearly a milestone for the game, so i'd figure that they could do this once per milestone, so to speak.

I just want to throw my hat in the ring to support some way of getting quality printed cards. It doesn’t have to be every time something changes. Milestones such as this one, going back to include previous changes since the last milestone, or even semi timed like once/twice a year would be nice.

If the previous errata's are any indication, the cards will be properly sized in the PDF. If you really want better quality new cards, take the pdfs to a print shop and have them printed for you

They might as well start stating "phone with an internet connection recommended" on the boxes...and just stop printing the cards while at it?

It'd be a shame really. This is not a backdoor company's low sale discontinued board game...it needs to be supported -on the table- not just on the internet.

I don't mind paying for an updated pack of cards, i just want the quality to be maintained over time.

While I don't like using the app in-game either, this isn't quite right. You don't need an active internet connection to use the app, and surely at some point you'll have access to wifi to update the cards.

It was a sarcastic comment, but it was "quite right"...you read "required" while i wrote "recommended". And no, we don't have phones nor Wi-Fi where we play, but that's just us and it's a choice to remove all tech from tabletop games.

My more serious point is for new players...say those who will get the game as a Christmas gift. It's never fun when you get a game and the content is already out-of-date, so from a new player's perspective, there is merit to have updated physical components.

Yep, gotta throw my hat in the ring. Bouncing from app to game is annoying, and I loathe printed cards. Feels so cheap when there's quality minis, and I go through the effort of having terrain and all that. Updated card pack for the win.

Guys.....
please feel free to help yourself.
If you don't like it to use the app while playing, then do as follows:
1. Print the following PDFs (and if your printer is crappy, ask your friends/workplace or use a copy shop):
- Attachment-/NCU-Cards: https://asoiafwiki.com/w/images/d/db/1.5_Updates_-_Attachment_-_NCU_Cards.pdf
- Unit-Cards: https://asoiafwiki.com/w/images/f/f8/1.5_Updates_-_Unit_Cards.pdf
2. Cut out the printed cards
3. Put the cutted and printed cards into the card sleeves of your original cards (and if you have not sleeved them yet?...go and sleeve them)

Hope this will help you all :)

Thanks for the procedure although i guess most know how to do this. I've done it for some cheaper games in the past. The result is never as nice as the original cards but it's a decent temporary solution. That said, if Wyrd Miniatures can get their Malifaux updated cards out (through the War Vault) every year, i don't see why CMON, which is a much bigger company, can't do something similar.

Yeah, I mean I will likely do this just for the convenience, but it's a bit ridiculous to say that a print version - even from staples or another printer service - is anywhere near the same. And as someone who does like to have components that match the quality of the game itself, having a card pack is important. I mean it'd be like telling someone who wants a nice juicy t-bone steak, but for whatever reason can't get one at the moment, to just eat a minute steak instead since it does come from the same animal. Quality and comparability are important in a game. If I just wanted print-and-play, I'd get that type of game.

Very interesting comments at around 13 mins in Michael Shinall's podcast "1.5 unit analysis" that's just out. Nothing official (emphasis on that) but they are looking into this.

That's good news.
