UW Sniper Help

I am going to be painting a sniper from the Urban War set and would like some ideas.(The one on the right.) The goggles and the scope lens will be painted like blue gems. I want to do a brown/green cloak, but I don\'t know what colors to do everything else. What I\'m trying to say is, how would you paint him? If you have any suggestions they would help.

It may be boring, but if you are going for \'realism\' I\'d suggest painting the rest the same colors that you do the cloak in.

I think the whole idea of the sniper would be to blend in with the surroundings and virtually \'disapper\'

Or...maybe some sort of Ghillie Suit?

paint him so you cant see him.... (literally) if hes gonna be in jungle give him a guilly suit desert... give him desert cammo.... as for lenses... try and hide them (seriously) and make sure the skin\'s camoed up also... and the gun cammoed to match surroundings....

If you\'re doing it just for yourself, you could try doing him up like \"Cain the Longshot\" from Trigun.. Hmm, wonder where I got that idea? :p

Damn, and I though this was a thread were I could drink :p
For the colors I\'s agree with supervike. Even though chrispy\'s idea is tempting too (don\'t think that many people know trigun though :p).

I\'d go for very drab nuetral colours, if it is for an urban setting then greys and very dark blues with a splotch of terracota here and there.
If it is for a rural setting then very drab greens and browns should do the trick.

I\'m not going for a purely realistic fig, so I\'m set on the gem lenses. I like the idea of grays and dark blues. If you could get me a pic of this Cain fellow I might do my sniper veteran that is in my next order that way. All the pics I found are head shots.
This figure is the first of a squad of specialists, so I want them to standout. Thats why I\'m doing the gem lenses and I will be putting a rune on each figure.

Wow, those things are seriously cool! You could just paint the rest black. Also I would be tempted to paint the lenses green to give them that high-tec, night vision look.

I think I may just have to pick a few of these up myself

we used to unscrew the lens guard and place a layer of black pantyhose over the lenses to reduce the glare. It would be hard to duplicate on a mini though.

If you can get hold of it

My son bought the latest Metal gear Solid yesterday which has a uniform editing section where you can change the chamo gear the character wears giving urban, forest, winter, etc. schemes.

If you can get sight of this it might help

If I could find pantyhose in 28mm scale then I would, but sadly I haven\'t yet. Airhead what is your history with shooting? I know some guys on the local swat marksman team that do that pantyhose trick.

I love the new metal gear solid. I will have to check that out.

very similar to the fig you were asking on. Barrets .50 cal in some very far away places.

Wow, always wanted to shot a .50 cal. I love big bore guns. Whether it be handguns or rifles.
I tried doing gems on another fig and I decided I need to practice or come up with a new plan.:D

try cutting some small peices of the cloth (the pantyhoes) and glueing em on so it looks like it was covered by one....

as for 50.cals.... FUN to shoot a real BLAST! lol..... so are BR-EN and MG-42 lol (shoots the WWII guns at WWII events lol)

BAD!!! (yes i know im getting annoying) me and airhead were talkin bout this and well..... we figure what would look good for the lenses is this.... for the goggles go with green (night vision) then for the rifle give it a red lense with a black scope.... only give the lense itselfe a slight wash of black to dull it a little!

That sounds really good. I think I will do green googles and a red lens with black rifle and scope. I\'m staring to lean toward a brown/tan color and adding a little green. I plan to rent Enemy at the Gates and watch it this friday while I prime and paint the minis.

make sure you use a thin wash of black on the red lense to make it duller (as if it had a thin thin cloth over it (the pantyhoes))
