Using aquarium plastic paints on base

I'm thinking about how the bases for my upcoming Eldar army are going to be and decided to make jungle bases. I bought some plastic plants for aquariums, similar to those:

Some of those are just plainly green and done with a very cheap plastic that easily bends. I think they old look a little out of place in a base. Somebody has an idea about what can i do? I think that if i paint over them i may have problems if they bend, destroying the paints. Somebody has tried that before? What can i do to improve their look.

I have used them before, a Reaper goblin. The green plant leaves in the picture was originally orange. Now, I have to say that I was using cheap paint at this point, but it did flake off really bad when bent later. It may have been too thick, so that may have been a problem.

So, I'd say it's probably okay for display models, but not gaming models. And nicer paints might make a difference.

I think i'll try testing. It's exactly for my army so i'll have to not use them or leave unpainted if it doesn't work.

the problem with these is that the plastic is very shiny and the paint doesn't adhere too well, so when they bend it cracks. a strong primer might help. or maybe just a coat of matt varnish would help them look better

Thx for the idea about the varnish. I'll make some experiences.
