Unassembled option for next Kickstarter campaign?

I mentioned this in the comments last time, but it was way to late in the process to consider. Now that we know the big delays from having everything assembled at the factory what about having the option of unassembled sprues for the next Kickstarter campaign? Obviously the retail versions would still be fully assembled, but lots of Kickstarter backers would actually prefer assembling everything ourselves, especially if it meant we could get them earlier. Would the savings offset the extra cost for shipping?

It is an idea, but sprues can be even more problematic - see the Robotech RRT KS - miscasts, small missing pieces, non alignment , gaps, do you see what I am getting at.

Also RW is one of the new breed of hybrid war/boardgames - think Dust Tactics, Shdows of Brimstone, aiming not only at the miniature gamers (assembly not a problem) but to the boardgamers who want to play straight out of the box.

That's why he asked if it could be an option. That way, the boardgamers can get the retail version, but the wargamers can have the sprues.

And everyone would benefit, not just the wargamers, because each game bought as sprues would be one less to be glued at the factory.

I'd certainly choose prebuilt. SDE took ages to setup and I wanted to play!

Logistically, it could be a nightmare for CMON to distinguish orders.

I could see it working as an additional purchase; buying a spur. Think that would work for mods!

An option would be fine, but there's a thin line between an option and "they all come like this because it's cheaper". From an artist standpoint I see how much easier it would be to paint and/or modify the figures like this. However, I have the artistic skill of a Nat and my friend has dungeon explorers (a game where their rivet wars type figures come in pieces) and it was hell to get that game to work. We ended up just playing with the stand and body pieces because heads, arms, and weapons fell apart. They were also sad when you lost a piece.

I don't see why it would be any harder to manage logistically than any other option. They could even specify up front that if they don't sell 500 sets or something as sprues they'd just revert to all factory assembled. It just seems like such a no-brainer to me, people who want sprues get their preference and everyone gets faster production.
