Hey all. Sophie here again to annouce my newest mini.
The Giant!
Go ahead an check him out at http://www.coolminiornot.com/100256 Special thanks to those who take the time to vote and comment.
For a little giant backstory, check this out...
Firstly, there is the concept. I wanted to make a sort of unbalanced, top-heavy lookin giant. His legs are almost under-developed, like a T-Rex\'s front arms. Just like how a T-Rex got all of his power in his jaws and thighs, the Giant has all of his power in his upper-body.
A Giant is a race, not just a large version of a regular human. I wanted to create a new bone structure and new \"feel\" to my giant.
I also wanted him to have alot of body fat as he would not have to work very hard to fight or feast, and I wanted very crude gear. The logic being that he simply could not fashion a decent weapon for himself, and others could not make him one because he was too busy fighting and eating them. Same goes with his clothes, so he has to lash together leather with rope to create pants and shoes.
These beginning drawings were crude, but I understood where I was going based on these little sketches.

...then comes the sculpt.
After drawing this miniature to scale on paper, I bent wire overtop the picture to create a wire armature that was to scale. I then bulked up the wire frame with Super Sculpey and hardened it in the oven.
After this armature was complete, I spent about a week sculpting the details on the armature with green epoxy putty (green-stuff).
I used my usual fave tools. Included in these are my embossing tools, the GW sculpting tool, and some exacto knives.

.... then the painting.
I painted this miniature in two days, using my usual mix of Citidel and Valejo paints, and the ever-useful painter retarder for blending. Unfortunatley you cannot see alot of the leg detail in these pics, or the cool skull trophies on his waist. I wanted to focus on those cool tattoos!
The tattoos are tribal, as most of you tattooed people know. These particular designs were inspired by Leo Zulueta, father of modern tribal tattooing. He owned Black Wave tattoo. I love tattoos, and have a few myself. I was very pleased to tattoo up my giant. It makes sense that the giant is tattooed, to perhaps denote his tribal affiliation, or his slave masters.
In the end, since the pics are taken from the top to show the tattoos it makes his look even more top heavy. I dont mind too much, but for the full perspective check out the green and resin copy pictures.

... and finally the resin castings.
I am very pleased with the Giant resin cast kit. All of the components are virtually flash and mold line free.

In the end, when I hold this giant in my hands I know that he is a creature unto his own, and he has alot of personality. He is a bully that never had to work very hard for anything because of his huge size and strength. A perfect mercenary, slave-warrior or loner.
Thanks for taking the time to learn about this new mini, and thanks again to those who vote and comment on the Giant.
Take care.
