Tzeentch color scheme

Hey all,

I'm about to start a Warriors of Chaos army for Warhammer Fantasy. The patron deity for my warriors will be Tzeentch but I don't know what color scheme to use.

I thought shadow grey with space wolf grey for highlights for the armour plates would be cool, and some shiny gold for other metallic parts.

What do you think? Any suggestions would be appreciated, because I think my color scheme sounds kinda dull.

Ooh, exciting. Tzeentch has that fun blue/orange thing going on. Polar opposites on the colour wheel, so they really contrast up a treat. Just gotta ensure the tones work off each other. Having the correspondimg amount of darkness/light, black/grey/white in the blue and orange so one doesn't overpower the other.

The Shadow Grey doesn't immediately leap out as a great choice for Tzeentch. It's creamy and smooth, but a bit drab in comparisn to the more in-your-face blues. I've tended to leap on the old Regal Blue highlighted with Enchanted Blue, they're dramatic and juicy, and go well with a gold or orange that charts a similar range from dark to light. Either a Tin Bitz to gold, or a Fiery Orange blended into white with a yellow ink applied (painted, not washed) to tint it all.

But it's Chaos, so normal rules need not apply. Could go with that Shadow Grey, and do something different with it. Could have it blend into a more true or dark blue. Considering it's an army you might feel inclined to ramp up the simplicity for speeds sake, so a blue ink wash could step in as useful. Maybe doing a similar gradient on the character models with more careful stages, by hand, or something.
Could stripe the Shadow Grey in the manner of tiger stripes, with whatever colour (maybe even another blue) feels appropriate.
Could have dots of another another colour, or another blue, seemingly growing on the chaos armour as if it's in the process of changing.

I'd experiment. Like brainstorming. Painting the ideas on an old blister pack (or slapping them together in photoshop) to see how the disparate elements work with each other.

I think I will try some different things then. perhaps regal for shadows and then worked up to shadow with space wolf for highlights.

The pattern ideas are cool, really going to expiriment with those.

Contrast is king.
You want either tonal ie black/white or colour ie orange/blue.

But you can kind of mix em in.
So I would suggest if you like grey then mix it from colours.
Make it a cool blue-grey and use some orange elsewhere.

That's a really good idea, perhaps I start with Hawk Turquoise with some Chaos Black and keep adding Fortress Grey to the mix. A gold with a red/orange wash as the contrasting colour.
