Two questiona before buying

Hi. I am interesting in buying a starter set for this game. I was looking at the original Stark vs. Lannister core set but I have a couple of questions (actually, only the first one is relevant for my buying decision):

- I've read somewhere that there are new, 2021 rules for this game and that, as a result, some cards are outdated. What starter set(s) can I buy that already include the newest rules/ rulebook and updated cards? I don't want to mess around with having to print cards and, honestly, I don't want to buy sets that have cards that are outdated vs. the most updated rules.
Another way to ask this, I guess, is - what starter sets are already "new rules" compliant, with updated cards etc.? I am assuming the original Stark vs. Lannister core set is no longer "compliant".

- Are there painting guides somewhere? Like a guide that gives an idea of what paints to use with the different units, etc.

I'm not an expert as I've yet to start playing due to being home from work due to an accident and with medical bills and such. So hopefully someone with more info can fill in but I think that I can give some answers to the your questions.

The new rules should be found in both "Faction Packs" for the cards as well as the "War Council" app for the game.

In regards to painting I've found several videos for this game on YouTube. Otherwise the cover boxes gives a pretty good idea about how you may paint the units, same goes with reading the books and to a degree in watching the TV show.

The new individual Stark/Lannister starter sets have the updated tactic cards and rule book. The only other starter set to have updated cards is the Greyjoy starter, but the rule book is missing 2 or 3 rules that have changed mid 2022.

You can also buy faction card packs for 19.99 for the rest of the other factions (Baratheon, Neutrals, Free Folk, Nights Watch, Targaryen) if you decide those 3 aforementioned factions aren't what you're looking for.

The war council app for mobile devices is a great resource to keep up to date on the game.
