There will be links galore! ;)

I finished up these two guys just in time for Halloween, then didn\'t get to post them \'til All Saints\' Day. Them\'s the breaks. :)

First up is a Reaper undead pirate:

I\'m trying to push my highlights into a brighter range, all while sticking with my grim \'n\' gritty black primer.

I decided he needed a first mate and accompice and confidant, so I sculpted him an undead parrot to hang out with:

It was a lot of fun. I haven\'t sculpted anything that small in quite some time, despite all the tiny stuff I did during the Mini-a-Week thing.

Thanks on all counts! He is kind of cute, isn\'t he? ;)

I did the MaW thing for a full year, then stopped. A couple months later, I tried to fire up another one, but I was indeed kind of burned out, and my job conspired against me.

So I\'m only now back in the saddle, after nearly 3 years of no modeling whatsoever. And I\'m doing more than one a week these days, so we\'ll see how things go. :)

Thanks! The whole process is sort of infuriating, because I\'m trying to push the highlights from low up to that extreme, and _then_ have it photograph well. :)

One of the last ones I did was really stark, but people seem to dislike that, so I\'ve been moving smother (I hope).

thanks,
Joel

I really like the pirate\'s rusty sword - nice effect. And, of course, the \"ex-parrot\" is great fun. Always wondered what he did when he left Monty Python lol

Thanks!

The early years were the toughest for the parrot. He toured a series of small venues (bars, that sort of thing) in the mid and late 80s, but drew smaller and smaller crowds. The 90s were lean years, and the parrot\'s snuff habit eventually raged out of control.

But things are brighter. He\'s been through rehab, and these days supplements his royalty checks with his work on the lecture circuit. The gig with the Unsleeping Reaver looks like it might be his big comeback break -- we\'re all quite happy for him around here.

;)
