They look fun Exiles. Do you paint all the way up to full highlight in one go or is there a pause & let it dry point somewhere along the way? Have you used any blue in there at all? Just a touch to help cool the shading might be nice.

Can we take it your Euromilitaire piece will be painted with oils?

Skel - I'd have thought oils would suit your style well, it'd be interesting to see you give them a go.

Cheers, B.

For someone beginning in olis you might find it easier to start with if you use an acrylic basecoat and put in shadows/darker areas with acrylics, then use oils to work the skin tones.

Always remember:- Oils on top of Acrylics, not the other way around.
Drying times are so different its a good way to get cracks.

I use a flesh colour acrylic base then you put you oil on that I paint all over with a dark brown and leave for 12 hours then wipe the figure, this leave the resesses dark but the base showing elsewhere,I will track down the tut I usedhttp://www.timelinesforum.com/index.php?page=paintingoils1

I used a combi of these. I will give oils a go on my Euro stuff. Painting with oils is not quick you are best leaving each layer awhile to semi dry before blending, but the blending is so much easier that with acyrilics. i have stripped these heads to do again so will try a SBS with the next one
